Trinity Transportation Provides Shuttles for 2019 Maccabi Games

Friday, August 16th, 2019

The 2019 JCC Maccabi Games and ArtsFest took place in Detroit from August 4th through 9th and Trinity Transportation was the shuttle provider for athletes, their families, coaches, and spectators. The Maccabi Games are an Olympic-style sporting competition for ages 12–16 and are held each summer in North America. The Games are the second largest organized sports program for Jewish teenagers in the world. Over 1,600 teens participated in the Detroit JCC Maccabi Games this year, competing in sports such as baseball, ice hockey, volleyball, dance, and swimming. The athletes compete in their specific sport throughout the week.

Trinity had a total of 70 drivers working the event from all of our locations. Our drivers worked together to transport participants to and from the airport, hotels, and temples, and from game to game. In addition to these shuttles, 40 of our buses transported 1,300 kids from the JCC to the Majestic Theatre in Detroit for a celebration at the beginning of the week where the kids were able to mingle, dance, and eat.

Trinity Transportation Charter Manager Scott Wallace was one of the supervisors for our shuttle services and said the event went smoothly. He stated, “Our drivers did very well! Everything went smoothly the rest of the week, and we were successful in transporting 40 buses from West Bloomfield to Downtown Detroit for the event at the Majestic Theatre.”

Bob Canvassar, Maccabi Games transportation coordinator, complimented one of our drivers for the great job she did. He said, “Your driver, Jeri, ensured that no one was left behind by returning to the pick-up location. Very nice of her to do that!”

Overall, the 2019 JCC Maccabi Games in Detroit were a success and we are proud to have been their transportation partner for the second time!

Trinity Transportation Acquires Contract with Schools in Northwest Detroit

Tuesday, June 26th, 2018

We are excited to announce that Trinity Transportation has become the transportation provider for six schools in the Detroit Public Schools Community District and four charter schools in northwest Detroit! Trinity’s buses will take students to and from school and to and from after-school programs at the Northwest Activities Center. In an effort to keep security high, the city will be implementing a card-swiping system on the buses and at the Northwest Activities Center. This system will send text messages to parents when their children enter and exit the school bus, and when they go to and from after-school programs. As with a lot of our current routes, the buses for these schools will have two adults on board at all times: a driver and an attendant. We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Detroit Public Schools and look forward to helping with the growth of our future students!

Trinity Transportation’s 1st Annual Baseball Outing

Tuesday, June 5th, 2018

Here at Trinity, we wanted to show employees a fun time and start summer off right – what better way to do that than take everyone to a Detroit Tigers baseball game?! We were excited to provide employees with a ticket to the game, food voucher, and custom designed t-shirt. Of course, being a transportation company, we also provided transportation for those who wanted it!

The day started with buses arriving at the park 40 minutes before game time, giving employees a chance to walk around, get food, or visit the team store. The weather was perfect for a baseball game! While the Tigers were off to a semi-rough start, they came back strong and won the game 7-4 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

See what some of our employees had to say about the outing!

Sherrie Presley, school bus driver, said, “I loved the fact that we got to bring a family member and the reuniting of people I’ve worked with over the years. It was an overall amazing day and I felt very appreciated as an employee!”

Renee Holmes, school bus aide, enjoyed her time at the game: “I always go to Comerica Park and I had so much fun at this game!”

Jessica Schwartz, dispatcher, went with her daughter and they had a ball! She said, “The game was lots of fun! We didn’t ride the bus down, but we enjoyed ourselves. The game itself was nice, the weather was nice, and we all had a good time!”

We loved our time together on June 2nd; it was a great game and an all-around fun day! We can’t wait for our next company outing!

Trinity Transportation Supports River Rouge School District Operation Backpack Rally

Wednesday, August 30th, 2017

For some families, getting ready to go back to school can be a stressful time. Between purchasing backpacks and school supplies to clothes and shoes, it can be hard to cover the costs. This is where Operation Backpack steps in. Operation Backpack provides backpacks filled with school supplies, toiletries, and water bottles to children in need so they can enter the school year prepared and ready to learn.

Trinity Transportation was proud to provide backpacks for the Operation Backpack Back to School Rally on Friday, August 25th, 2017, at River Rouge High School. The event was packed with families enjoying all of the fun activities on a nice summer day. There were three bounce houses with slides, free food and bottled water, school information (and information from various vendors), a slush machine, and much more. Paws from the Detroit Tigers even made an appearance! Home Depot handed out boats for the kids to build and aprons for them to wear (and write their names on!), and Metro PCS was taking individual photos and printing them off with a special frame for families to take home.

Tarence Wheeler, Operation Backpack organizer, said of the event: “Because of our great partnership with Trinity Transportation, we provided over 1,500 backpacks stuffed with school supplies & toiletries for students.  We know that student success is predicated on adult participation. Collectively we can alleviate all non-academic barriers.”

The River Rouge Operation Backpack rally was extremely successful and we are honored to have been a partner!

Trinity Transportation Prepares for 2017-2018 School Year

Thursday, August 17th, 2017

It’s back-to-school season, which means it’s time for Trinity Transportation’s annual Back to School meeting! Every year, Trinity hosts a meeting before the school year starts to review safety, protocol, and procedures with our school bus drivers and aides.

“Each year, Trinity brings together all school bus division employees from our 10 locations to have a combined back-to-school meeting in preparation of the new school year,” stated Regional Operations Manager, Dave Holls. “This meeting allows all of our employees to receive combined training, learn about changes to employee benefits and company improvements, and allow us time to acknowledge and celebrate our accomplishments and success.

Regional Operations Manager, Dave Holls, speaking to Trinity employees

“This year we had over 500 employees in attendance for our meeting – the most ever!  As Trinity continues to grow, and is now part of the National Express family of companies, we continue to be able to offer new and exciting benefits and tools for our employees.  Our back to school meeting allows us to review all of these new improvements and prepare our staff for the goals and objectives of the new school year.”

Kicking off the meeting was Trinity Transportation President, Jerry Sheppard, who gave a welcoming speech to the crowd. He addressed how successful Trinity has been, how fast we are growing, and the resources we’ll acquire upon finishing the merge with National Express.

The day continued with two National Express executives and several Trinity Transportation executives and managers speaking on important policies, safety, branding, customer service, employee appreciation, and marketing.

From Chief Operating Officer, Austin Arksey: “Our Back to School meeting this year was a great success with our biggest turnout to date. There was a lot of excitement amongst our school bus drivers and aides for the new school year! Between the merge with National Express and the growing of Trinity Transportation, we’re ready to utilize every resource to make this year one of the best.”

At the end of the day, employees had the chance to play “Spin the Wheel”, where over $600 in Visa gift cards were given away! Three employees had golden tickets under their chairs, which won them each an Apple Watch!

The Back to School meeting was an ultimate success – a day filled with important information that also brought Trinity employees together. To see more pictures, check out our Facebook page!

End the Summer Right With Trinity & Cedar Point!

Wednesday, August 16th, 2017

Summer break is coming to a close and the school year is fast approaching, so get your friends and family members together for one last trip down to Cedar Point with Trinity Transportation! Take the trip in our luxurious motorcoaches, equipped with free wi-fi, large comfortable seats, power outlets, panoramic windows, and restrooms. Cedar Point has many new rides, food options, and shows to see before going back to school!

The ride formerly known as RipCord has been renamed Professor Delbert’s Frontier Fling – a sky high (15 stories to be exact) flying adventure that sends you soaring above the Frontier Trail at 65 mph. The Iron Dragon is now virtual! From now until September 4th, guests ages 13+ can wear a virtual reality headset while riding the rollercoaster for an awesome new experience.

Cedar Point has a mobile app that is back for its second season. Park-goers can join a “coaster alliance” and enter a friendly competition in “The Battle for Cedar Point”. Guests can also answer park trivia questions, scan targets to gain points for their alliance, and play unique mini-games while in line. Don’t worry about using up all of your data either – Cedar Point has free wi-fi!

In addition to the terrific new rides and app features, Cedar Point has added new dining options. If you’re hungry or thirsty, the park has you covered. Enjoy delicious shredded meat sandwiches and gourmet macaroni and cheese from Root’s (near the Scrambler), and head over to Melt Bar & Grilled (near Planet Snoopy) for interesting takes on the classic grilled cheese sandwich. Make sure to check out their sandwich exclusive to Cedar Point and their full-service bar. Famous Dave’s BBQ Shack is on the Frontier Trail, ready to fill your barbeque cravings with pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, ribs, and more. If you’re in search for pizza, make your way to Wagon Wheel Pizza in Frontier Town. Be prepared for mouth-watering hand-made pizza with traditional toppings of cheese, sausage, or pepperoni. And don’t forget your side of flavorsome breadsticks! If you tend to drink a lot of liquids throughout your time at the park, Cedar Point has a season pass drink plan that gives you the option of selecting a disposable cup or refillable drink bottle at the beverage stations for unlimited fountain drinks all summer long.

The new shows at Cedar Point are definitely worth watching! “Peanuts Perfect Day” is a fun celebration from beginning to end with music, dance, and all of your favorite Peanuts characters. Find it in Celebration Plaza – and don’t forget to stick around after the show to meet the Peanuts! “Lights, Camera, Action” is a musical journey that takes you through the greatest numbers from your favorite movies, from “Singing in the Rain” to “Hairspray”. The show “Luminosity” is back for its second year. Experience aerial artists, pyrotechnics, energetic dancers, live music, and more with this awesome celebration!
