How to Use a Promo Code

Thursday, November 22nd, 2018

Throughout the year, we offer various promo codes, but since we do not have direct booking online, figuring out how to apply promo codes can be a tad confusing. In this article, we will walk you through the process and explain how you can use your promo codes!

The first step is to choose the vehicle that best fits your needs. If your promo code is not for a specific vehicle and you need help figuring out which vehicle you should select, check out our handy article here. Once you have your vehicle picked out, head to our Request a Quote page.

On this page, select the vehicle you would like to receive a quote for and you will be taken to a new page with a form to fill out. On the first page of the form, you will be asked for travel details.

Once the information is filled out, click the “next” button. You will then be taken to the portion of the form where your contact information is requested. Also on this page is a place for you to enter your promo code!

After you’ve input all of your information (and your promo code!), click the “send” button and you will be all set! The form will be sent to our reservations department who will contact you regarding your trip. They will discuss the information from your form and our vehicle availability. For more on what to expect after you’ve requested a quote, take a look at this article.

Happy traveling!

Thankful and Grateful

Wednesday, November 21st, 2018

Every year for Thanksgiving, Trinity Transportation gives each employee a turkey for their holiday table, and we were excited to do it again this year! We handed out turkeys to our 1,000+ employees, helping to spread some holiday cheer. The marketing team, Chief Financial Officer Matt White, and Chief Operating Officer Dave Holls traveled to Trinity’s terminals to hand deliver turkeys to employees, which was the perfect way to start our Thanksgiving break.

Since Thanksgiving is about recognizing what we’re grateful for, we asked employees to write down what they are thankful for, and we received some wonderful answers!

At Trinity, we’re thankful for our clients and our employees, and wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving!

Safety Starts Here

Tuesday, October 30th, 2018

For the safety meetings this month, each of our general managers led the meeting at their terminal. Per usual, the meetings started with local news and updates (operational and maintenance), then the first topic covered was preventing a rollaway. A rollaway is when a vehicle moves without the driver in the seat, which can happen when drivers are distracted and do not set the handbrake/parking brake. The next topic of discussion was pedestrian/bicyclist awareness and safety. We always teach our drivers to “Be A.W.A.R.E.”:

Always make a complete stop before turning

Watch for pedestrians’ body language and if they are distracted

Anticipate the direction of the pedestrian

Right-of-way always goes to pedestrians

Eliminate blind spots and establish eye contact

Our company’s safety performance key performance indicators (KPIs) were reviewed, first overall then by terminal. The GMs went over their terminal’s performance feedback from the different programs we use to track performance and discussed where they are at in relation to their goals.

The general managers did an awesome job conducting the safety meetings this month. Our employees reviewed and learned important information they will take with them every time they’re on the road!

Long distance trips are usually done in our motor coaches, which offer a luxury ride complete with comfortable seats, a restroom, power outlets, a DVD player, Wi-Fi, and more. They also have overhead and underneath storage for items such as luggage, band instruments, and athletic equipment. Our motor coaches seat up to 56 passengers, have panoramic windows, and some are handicap accessible.

If you’re not traveling far or overnight, our school bus may be a viable option for you. Local field trips and athletic trips are usually done in our school buses, which seat up to 48 passengers. They are equipped with heat for chillier days and several are handicap accessible.

Putting Safety in Every Stride

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018

September’s safety meetings took place the week of September 24th and provided important information for our drivers and aides. The meetings were led by Chief Operating Officer Dave Holls and began with local updates from each terminal’s general manager.

After the local terminal updates, Dave delved into the topic of slips and falls. Slip, trip, and fall hazards can occur in virtually every type of workplace. Injuries that can occur due to these hazards are sprains, strains, bruises and contusions, fractures, abrasions, and cuts. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, slips, trips, and falls make up the majority of all work-related injuries. There are 95,000,000 lost work days per year due to these incidents and they account for 15% of accidental deaths and 25% of all reported injury claims. Slips, trips, and falls, can be avoided by taking extra caution, being aware of your surroundings, and fixing anything you see that is a hazard. It is also important to walk defensively and wear proper shoes.

The next topic discussed was danger zones of the school bus. The entire perimeter around the school bus is a danger zone, with the most dangerous zones being the left and right sides of the rear and the area in front of the nose of the bus. This is why it’s imperative that our drivers teach students the proper way to behave in and around the bus. The best way to exit the bus is to walk out 15 feet from the door to a sidewalk, then turn in the direction you need to go. If something falls/drops in front or around the bus, students are to tell the bus driver before picking it up. Our bus drivers are taught to be extra aware and to always check their mirrors and surroundings, and to do head counts every time students enter and exit the bus.

The meeting ended with safety key performance indicators, performance feedback, and employee handbook updates. With the start of the school year under way, we are ready to make this our best year yet!

Vehicle Virtual Tours

Thursday, September 27th, 2018

There are a lot of factors that go into choosing the vehicle that’s right for you. Some of the things to take into consideration are all of the vehicle’s features, what the vehicle is best for, how many it seats, and what the interior and exterior look like.

To help with the selection process, we have added a new update to our website. Along with the fantastic exterior and interior photos of our fleet, we have added virtual tours to help you get a better feel of our vehicles. On the individual vehicle pages, you will find the description of the vehicle, the capacity and features, interior and exterior photos, recommended services, and virtual tours (on most vehicle pages).

To navigate the virtual tours, simply click and drag your mouse in the direction you want the photo to move! You’ll be able to view the vehicle from front to back, side to side, and top to bottom. We hope this new feature will give you a better look into our vehicles and ultimately help you pick the right one for you!

Trinity Supports River Rouge School District’s Back to School Rally

Monday, August 27th, 2018

Getting ready to go back to school is a fun and exciting time for most families, from finding out who will be your child’s teacher for the year to buying new supplies and clothing; however, for some families, this time is more of a challenging one. Financial struggles and access to certain amenities can be a burden during the preparation for each new school year, but Operation Backpack is determined to change that. Every year, Operation Backpack provides backpacks filled with school supplies, toiletries, and reusable water bottles to children in need so they can have the necessary items to be prepared and ready to learn.

Trinity Transportation was proud to donate backpacks for this year’s Back to School Rally put on by Operation Backpack for River Rouge schools. The event was held at River Rouge High School on Friday, August 24th, 2018, and was full of families having fun and enjoying the last of summer break. There were bounce houses with slides, free food and bottled water, various vendors, free haircuts, backpacks filled with supplies being handed out, and much more! Home Depot was giving kids aprons to wear and write their names on and had a table where kids could create their very own toolboxes!

The River Rouge Back to School Rally was a great success and we are so honored to have been a partner!

Trinity Transportation Hosts Annual Back to School Meeting

Tuesday, August 21st, 2018

Every year, Trinity Transportation prepares for the new school year by hosting our annual Back to School Meeting for school bus division employees. During the meeting, company protocol, procedures, and safety measures are reviewed to ensure our employees put their best foot forward for the upcoming school year.

“As an organization, we understand the importance of thorough planning and preparation. That is why each year, before the start of school, we bring together all of our school bus division employees for a back to school startup meeting to review policy changes and receive continuing education training”, Chief Operating Officer Dave Holls stated. “At this year’s meeting, crisis de-escalation and student management on the bus were two highlighted training events everyone participated in.”

Our meeting this year had over 500 attendees, including two special guests from our parent company, National Express: Vice President of Safety Kevin Kilner and Head of Transit Maintenance William Diamond. The day started with an introduction from Dave Holls, who discussed safety initiatives including our ongoing Target Zero campaign. He also discussed the performance of our terminals; what employees should do before, during, and after their routes; and reiterated the Driving out Harm program. Kevin Kilner delivered an important safety message, touching on how imperative it is that we follow all of the guidelines and procedures put in place in order to keep our communities safe.

After lunch, Area General Manager Kevin Dunbar gave training on blood borne pathogens, which prepared employees for cases where bodily fluids are involved. The training took employees through the process of what to do in a medical emergency and how to handle bodily fluids with precaution. Next up was DriveCam coaching, conducted by Dave Holls, and then customer service training from Sales Director Pete Rudnik. The meeting ended with educational videos on preventative techniques for crisis intervention and a discussion about student management.

During the meeting, there were periodic breaks for some fun! Upon arrival, employees were given raffle tickets for a chance to spin the prize wheel and win prizes. A total of 13 prizes were given away, including a Keurig set, Amazon Fire Cube, tablets, a record player, and a five-piece luggage set.

Trinity Transportation Donates Buses to Wayne State University’s Baseball Camp

Monday, July 9th, 2018

At the end of June, Wayne State University put on their annual week-long baseball camp in partnership with the Detroit Tigers and Trinity Transportation! Kids ages 7-18 came from all around the Metro Detroit area to advance their baseball skills and learn from the best at this camp. The participating kids visited Comerica Park where they were able to go onto the field for batting practice, received a special tour, and spent time with the players and coaches. The camp ended with the participating kids receiving a tour of WSU’s campus and spending time with WSU’s baseball players and coaches who taught the campers new drills and exercises and showed them what it’s like to be a collegiate athlete. We are proud to support our future baseball players by providing the transportation for this annual camp!

WSU head coach Ryan Kelley said, “It was an exciting and action-packed week of baseball at our annual summer camp. We hope all participants enjoyed spending their time with us in a combined MLB and NCAA environment in our great baseball city of Detroit! I would like to thank the Detroit Tigers Foundation for outstanding leadership, support, and a commitment to helping provide a great experience for all participants. I would also like to thank all of our camp staff, which included current and former NCAA baseball student-athletes, high school coaches, select youth coaches, and former professional baseball players. Plus, Trinity Transportation was instrumental in helping with our ground transportation during camp. On behalf of our camp staff, I would like to wish all participants a great deal of success on and off the field for the remainder of this summer and look forward to seeing you again at future events.”

The week filled with baseball was a success and we are so happy to have been a part of it!

Sweet Summer Treat!

Monday, July 2nd, 2018

Every year, Trinity Transportation hosts our annual company picnic. It is a time for us to celebrate our company family with delicious food and lots of summer fun! At this year’s picnic, we had blow-up obstacle courses, bounce houses, inflatable water slides and pools, clowns doing face painting and making balloon animals, a DJ, ice cream trucks, and a photo booth! The picnic was held at Lake Erie Metropark (right by the wave pool!) on June 23rd, 2018, and was catered by Kosch Catering, who provided an awesome selection of food. We also conducted an employee raffle, where employees had the chance to win prizes including bicycles, coolers, grills, yard games, 55” 4k TVs, and more!

Despite it raining at one point, the weather was perfect and sunny! Hundreds of employees from our terminals across southeast Michigan and Ohio and their families came to Lake Erie Metropark for our picnic put together to show appreciation for their hard work.  We enjoyed spending the day having fun with our Trinity family and can’t wait for next year’s picnic!

Want to join in on the fun next summer? We are currently hiring for multiple positions!
