Trinity Transportation Prepares for 2017-2018 School Year

Thursday, August 17th, 2017

It’s back-to-school season, which means it’s time for Trinity Transportation’s annual Back to School meeting! Every year, Trinity hosts a meeting before the school year starts to review safety, protocol, and procedures with our school bus drivers and aides.

“Each year, Trinity brings together all school bus division employees from our 10 locations to have a combined back-to-school meeting in preparation of the new school year,” stated Regional Operations Manager, Dave Holls. “This meeting allows all of our employees to receive combined training, learn about changes to employee benefits and company improvements, and allow us time to acknowledge and celebrate our accomplishments and success.

Regional Operations Manager, Dave Holls, speaking to Trinity employees

“This year we had over 500 employees in attendance for our meeting – the most ever!  As Trinity continues to grow, and is now part of the National Express family of companies, we continue to be able to offer new and exciting benefits and tools for our employees.  Our back to school meeting allows us to review all of these new improvements and prepare our staff for the goals and objectives of the new school year.”

Kicking off the meeting was Trinity Transportation President, Jerry Sheppard, who gave a welcoming speech to the crowd. He addressed how successful Trinity has been, how fast we are growing, and the resources we’ll acquire upon finishing the merge with National Express.

The day continued with two National Express executives and several Trinity Transportation executives and managers speaking on important policies, safety, branding, customer service, employee appreciation, and marketing.

From Chief Operating Officer, Austin Arksey: “Our Back to School meeting this year was a great success with our biggest turnout to date. There was a lot of excitement amongst our school bus drivers and aides for the new school year! Between the merge with National Express and the growing of Trinity Transportation, we’re ready to utilize every resource to make this year one of the best.”

At the end of the day, employees had the chance to play “Spin the Wheel”, where over $600 in Visa gift cards were given away! Three employees had golden tickets under their chairs, which won them each an Apple Watch!

The Back to School meeting was an ultimate success – a day filled with important information that also brought Trinity employees together. To see more pictures, check out our Facebook page!

The Iron Dragon is now virtual! From now until September 4th, guests ages 13+ can wear a virtual reality headset while riding the rollercoaster for an awesome new experience.

Cedar Point has a mobile app that is back for its second season. Park-goers can join a “coaster alliance” and enter a friendly competition in “The Battle for Cedar Point”. Guests can also answer park trivia questions, scan targets to gain points for their alliance, and play unique mini-games while in line. In addition to the terrific new rides and app features, Cedar Point has added new dining options. If you’re hungry or thirsty, the park has you covered. Famous Dave’s BBQ Shack is on the Frontier Trail, ready to fill your barbeque cravings with pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, ribs, and more. If you’re in search for pizza, make your way to Wagon Wheel Pizza in Frontier Town. Be prepared for mouth-watering hand-made pizza with traditional toppings of cheese, sausage, or pepperoni. And don’t forget your side of flavorsome breadsticks! If you tend to drink a lot of liquids throughout your time at the park, Cedar Point has a season pass drink plan that gives you the option of selecting a disposable cup or refillable drink bottle at the beverage stations for unlimited fountain drinks all summer long.

The new shows at Cedar Point are definitely worth watching! “Peanuts Perfect Day” is a fun celebration from beginning to end with music, dance, and all of your favorite Peanuts characters. Find it in Celebration Plaza – and don’t forget to stick around after the show to meet the Peanuts! “Lights, Camera, Action” is a musical journey that takes you through the greatest numbers from your favorite movies, from “Singing in the Rain” to “Hairspray”. "Shop with a Cop" Annual Event, Trinity Transportation Donates School Bus

“Shop with a Cop”

December 9th was the Annual “Shop with a Cop” event put on by Grosse Pointe Farms Police Department. This is the 5th year this event has been held and Grosse Pointe Farms Public Safety Officer Veronica Cashion was excited to see it return.

“Shop with a Cop” normally consists of the Police Officers in Grosse Pointe Farms and a couple of surrounding cities taking 25-50 special needs children Christmas shopping at a local Target. The day usually includes a lunch with the children and officers as well.

The students that participated this year were from Ferry Elementary in Grosse Pointe Farms. This year, rather than shopping, the children were invited to Grosse Pointe Farms Pier Park to do arts and crafts with the police officers, then got to meet Santa where they were each given gifts.

Trinity Transportation donated the school bus transportation for this event. Not only did the children get to ride from their school to the venue where the event took place, but they received a police escort on the way. Two Trinity Transportation drivers that normally service these children on a daily basis were able to show up and celebrate the holiday with them. Take a look at the event below!

Trinity Transportation Donates 9 Laptops to Graduating Seniors

Sales Director Austin Arksey speaking about education

Trinity Transportation’s Sales Director, Austin Arksey, speaking about the importance of education.

Last night, River Rouge School District hosted a “Student of the Month” event where they recognized students from elementary, middle, and high school for their academic excellence. Trinity Transportation was in attendance and donated 9 laptops to the seniors that were there. The event was held at Crystal Gardens in Southgate, Michigan, and dinner was provided for the students and their parents.

The program consisted of River Rouge administrators thanking their corporate partners, parents, and exceptional staff for all of the hard work over the past school year. Then, the principal from each River Rouge school stepped up to the podium to acknowledge the students from their respective schools.

The last principal to praise his students was Principal Michael Mokdad from River Rouge High School. He went through his list of freshman, sophomores, and juniors, saving the seniors for the end. Little did the seniors know, they were not just receiving praise for their academic excellence.

Before Principal Mokdad called their names, Austin Arksey, the Director of Sales for Trinity Transportation stepped up to the mic. Austin gave the graduating seniors advice on how to succeed in college and why it’s important to focus “not on what you do, but how you go about doing it.

“Students are the future of our society,” said Arksey. “It’s important for parents, teachers, and mentors to help pave the way for young people to become successful leaders of tomorrow.”

He then announced that Trinity Transportation would be donating 9 laptops to the graduating seniors, who were attending universities such as Western Michigan University, Michigan State University, and University of Michigan-Dearborn. Austin told them that he cannot wait to see each of them grow and continue to exude excellence in whatever they do in life.

Trinity Transportation has worked closely with River Rouge Schools to provide them safe and reliable transportation. We are a proud community partner for River Rouge Schools and continue to invest in the children of our community.
