The holidays are a special time – a time full of joy, family, and giving. While enjoying this holiday season, be thankful for what you have and, if you can, give to those who are not as fortunate. Michigan’s official poverty rate in 2016 was 15 percent, with 1.45 million people living in poverty. The breakdown for the residents who live in poverty in the counties of Southeast Michigan is as follows:

  • 22..7% of Wayne County residents
  • 16.7% of Sanilac County residents
  • 14.2% of Washtenaw County residents
  • 13.9% of St. Clair County residents
  • 13.2% of Jackson County residents
  • 12.5% of Lenawee County residents
  • 11.6% of Livingston County residents
  • 10.8% of Macomb County residents
  • 9.7% of Monroe County residents
  • 8.5% of Oakland County residents

To help those in need this holiday, the employees at Trinity participated in our company’s second annual food drive. This year, we partnered with Forgotten Harvest, a non-profit dedicated to relieving hunger in Metro Detroit and preventing nutritious food waste. The employees at each of our 11 terminals participated in the collection of non-perishable food items from October 23rd to November 17th, where we were able to donate over 1,000 items!

We would like to give a big, heartfelt thank you to all employees who participated. Your donations will provide many meals to families in need. We are so happy we were able to help our neighbors in need this holiday season!
