On June 6, 2016, River Rouge School District hosted a “Student of the Month” event where they recognized students from elementary, middle, and high school for their academic excellence. Trinity Transportation was in attendance and donated 8 laptops to the seniors that were there. The event was held at Crystal Gardens in Southgate, Michigan, and dinner was provided for the students and their parents.

The program consisted of River Rouge administrators thanking their corporate partners, parents, and exceptional staff for all of the hard work over the past school year. Then, the principal from each River Rouge school stepped up to the podium to acknowledge the students from their respective schools.

The last principal to praise his students was Principal Michael Mokdad from River Rouge High School. He went through his list of freshman, sophomores, and juniors, saving the seniors for the end. In addition to the seniors receiving praise for their academic excellence, it was announced that Trinity Transportation would be donating 8 laptops to the graduating seniors, who were attending universities such as Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, Florida Southern, and Henry Ford College. David Holls, the Regional Operations Manager and Renee Thornton, the Human Resources Director for Trinity Transportation both stepped up to the microphone to congratulate all the winners and hand out the new laptops to each student.

Trinity Transportation has worked closely with River Rouge Schools for over a decade to provide them safe and reliable transportation. We are a proud community partner for River Rouge Schools and continue to invest in the children of our community.

With the largest turnout ever, the 2016 annual employee picnic was a success! The afternoon of Saturday June 18th consisted of delicious food, sunny weather, but most important— good company.

Any employee, from the bus drivers to office crew, would describe working at Trinity as having a welcoming environment. It is not long before you are considered family working at this business and that is what the employee picnic is all about.

Celebrating a company which has brought so many families together for over 35 years takes place every year in June. Over 800 employees from our 8 terminals plus their families all come out to Lake Erie Metro Park for a day picnic. A gorgeous view of the lake, water slides and bounce houses for the kids, ice-cream trucks, hot dogs and chicken (just a few of the mouthwatering food), photo booth, and a DJ playing music to dance to, measured up to be a perfect summer day.

Thousands of dollars in prizes were awarded in raffles! Multiple grills, bikes and other prizes were given out. Three cash prizes were raffled to those employees who have kept up their attendance every week. Our third place winnerDSC08137-157 awarded with $500 was Daniel Cerne, second place with $1,000 goes to Randy Reinig and our first place with $2,000 went to Nelson Mays. Congratulations to our three winners!

Looking to join in on the fun next year? Trinity Transportation is always hiring.

River Rouge Hosts Coat Drive for Kids in Need, Trinity Transportation Gets Involved

Friday, December 18th, 2015

‘Tis the season for giving. Especially at River Rouge High School.

Tarence Wheeler, River Rouge Public School’s Director of Community Outreach and Parent Engagement, explained how important it is for schools to break down any barriers that students might have that would prevent them from getting an education. This is why the coat drive at River Rouge high school began.

Starting on December 14th and running until February 22nd, 2016, River Rouge high school is accepting new or gently used coats to be donated to kids in need. Students that are in need of coats are able to come to the high school and pick up a jacket if they don’t have one. Mr. Wheeler explained that while the coats are housed at River Rouge high school, the child does not need to belong to the school district to obtain a coat.

“The goal is to provide over 500 coats for our young people, in particular K-5,” said Wheeler. “Our goal at River Rouge School District is to provide ethical care and supplemental services to our children and families.”

Mr. Wheeler reached out to multiple different organizations to get them to donate coats for the cause, and Trinity Transportation was one of those companies. Trinity donated 50 brand new coats of all different sizes for the coat drive.

David Holls, Trinity Transportation’s IMG_7085Regional Operations Manager, mentioned how Trinity Transportation has been a provider for River Rouge schools for decades and how important it is to help provide services for students even after they step off the school bus. “The safety of our passengers has always been our top priority,” said Holls. “Part of that safety is ensuring that all of our students have the proper care when they are out in these cold winter months.”

If you are interested in donating a coat to this program, please call 313-205-9826 or visit 1460 Coolidge Hwy, River Rouge. You can find out more about this event at WCHB News.

Every Trinity Transportation Employee to Receive a Turkey for Thanksgiving, Participates in “13 Days of Thanksgiving”

Wednesday, November 11th, 2015

For those who are unfamiliar with Trinity, we love the holidays!

This time of year is especially great because with most schools on holiday break, our drivers are given some time off to spend with their families. And with 2015 being a very busy year for Trinity, many will greatly appreciate this time that they have to wind down with the ones that they love.

Trinity Transportation’s Sales Director, Natalie Lozon, says that it’s great to enjoy time off with her family. “During the year, it seems like everyone is always so busy with work, school, and athletics,” she said. “Holiday’s are great because we get to take a break from all of that and enjoy each other’s company.”

At Trinity, we try to make the holiday time as fun and exciting as we can leading up to the end of the year.

Turkey Distribution For Trinity Employees

Each year, Trinity’s President and Owner Jerry Sheppard travels to each terminal during the Thanksgiving season and distributes a turkey to each and every employee at Trinity Transportation. Trinity currently employs almost 800 people, including drivers, mechanics, and office staff. Mr. Sheppard is a firm believer that each employee should not go without a Turkey on Thanksgiving. He plans on traveling to each of the 8 Trinity Transportation terminals between November 23rd and November 24th to meet with employees before they enjoy the holiday weekend.

Trinity Transportation’s “13 Days of Thanksgiving”

To get employees excited for Thanksgiving and Trinity’s turkey giveaway, we will be having “13 Days of Thanksgiving” that will consist of employees telling us what Thanksgiving means to them. Starting this Friday, we will post a different image each day with a Trinity employee holding up what they consider to be some of the things they are thankful for. Keep an eye out for some pictures of your peers!

Trinity Makes Donations to American Cancer Society, Decals Prius in Pink Ribbons for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Trinity Pink Out

Trinity Celebrity and 28 year Breast Cancer Survivor “Miss Bobbie”

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and this past Friday, Trinity Transportation dubbed it “Breast Cancer Awareness Friday”! Trinity Transportation organized a Pink Out across all of their terminals and the turnout was amazing.

Aside from wearing pink, one of terminals located on the west side of Detroit took it a step further and held a bake sale to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Over the course of the month, they set a goal of $10,000 and are very close to reaching it.

President and Owner Jerry Sheppard and Fundraising Organizer and Trinity Employee Sharon Webb

When Trinity Transportation’s President and Owner, Jerry Sheppard, found out about this, he felt that he needed to jump in and help. He ended up donating $1,000 to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the company to help the Crusader’s for Life team reach their goal.

Now of course, website 2Trinity was too creative to stop there. Mr. Sheppard went a step further and had one of the company’s Prius cars painted in pink with pink ribbons on each of the vehicle’s sides. Trinity has done this in the past and thought it would be not only fun but a great way to show its support for this cause.

Several employees from the different Trinity terminals sent in group pictures of themselves sporting their pink attire. Take a look below! #TeamTrinity

Trinity Transportation Cedar Point HalloWeekends Trip is a Hit!

Wednesday, September 30th, 2015

Most people think that because summer has officially ended, Cedar Point trips are no longer a thing. But this could not be farther from the truth.

In 1997, Cedar Point introduced “HalloWeekends” which takes place from mid-September all the way until the last weekend before Halloween. Since then, HalloWeekends has exploded and become a huge hit for avid roller coaster enthusiasts.

But HalloWeekends isn’t just roller coaster rides. In addition to all of the roller coasters are over 10 adult attractions (haunted houses and scare zones) and numerous children’s activities throughout the day (including a costume contest!). One of the benefits is that the park is open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

This is the 3rd year that Trinity Transportation has ran its charter bus to Cedar Point. With Trinity’s package, you get a bus ride on one of Trinity’s deluxe motor coach buses (WiFi, power outlets, A/C, and DVD monitors included) to and from Cedar Point for the entire day and your ticket into the park for only $79. What a steal! Who wouldn’t want the convenience of not having to drive almost 2-3 hours? Whether you want to go down by yourself or take your group of 20, we have you covered!

If you are interested in purchasing a HalloWeekends ticket, please visit our HalloWeekends page where you can pick your date, pick-up location, and make your payment. Please give us a call at 888-995-8565 if you have any questions.

Step Aside Halloween, I’m Planning My Fall Wedding

Monday, September 14th, 2015

Photo by Maatla Kebs from Pexels

Living in a state with four seasons, most Michiganders have come to appreciate each season and what they bring along with them (Well…maybe ¾ seasons).

When people visualize the perfect wedding, they normally think of something outdoors in a garden, preferably when the weather is warm. Even though statistics do show that summer months are the most popular for weddings, the fall months come in a close second.

While fall might be a bit colder than the spring/summer months, there are several reasons why people choose this time for marriage:

  1. Fun themes: No one can deny that autumn is the perfect time for people to get very creative with wedding themes. All you have to do is walk into a farmer’s market and there will be enough pumpkins and corn stalks to decorate the venue for your wedding reception. Make it a fun event for your wedding party to get together and style your reception.
  2. Beautiful scenery: Autumn is hands down one of the most beautiful times of the year. Although the sun hides behind the clouds a little more, the color changing leaves are there to keep things alive and bright! This is a great opportunity for romantic and fun wedding photographs. Be sure to choose a photographer that is not only skilled at taking pictures, but is creative and thinks outside the box.
  3. Seasonal food: One of the best things about a wedding according to your guests will be the food. Having it in the fall will give you the opportunity to not only offer great options, but to have food that will get people excited about this time of year! Caramel apples, butternut squash soup, or even a Thanksgiving styled-dinner would go over great with your guests.

Fall weddings are becoming more and more common. Our Wedding Specialist that books most of the wedding transportation at Trinity has said that this is the first year that we are quickly selling out of vehicles on the weekend, primarily due to weddings.

If you are interested in seeing some of the options that we have to offer to transport your wedding party, give us a call today at 877.284.4200!
